Recently LS Quarry supplied Railway Ballast and other Quarry Products to two major NERL rail projects simultaneously for Downer Rail and Martinus Rail who were both working for ARTC on significant contracts for the installation of two new sets of crossovers near Longwood and Violet Town.
Crossovers are heavy duty track components which allow trains to switch from one track to another, which will enable acess to tracks for work crews to carry out substantial improvements under the NERL project, allowing for double stacking of freight containers and improving the ride for passenger trains.
In the space of three weeks the team at LS Quarry supplied both Downer Rail and Martinus Rail with superior stone and superior service to keep their projects on time and on track!
One of the challenges faced in building the cross overs was the unstable ground along side the railway line, this had to be dug out and back filled with high strength rock and cement stabilized crushed rock to withstand the weight of the cranes being used to lift the rail segments into position.
LS Quarry had the full range of products required to carry out the works in stock and was able to deliver on short notice when called upon.
